The weather is warming up this time of year, and that means swimsuits and trips to the beach—it’s summertime! If the idea of shedding your winter layers and showing off your legs makes you cringe, then it must mean you’re affected by varicose veins and spider veins. At Canada Vein Clinics we completely understand, as many of our clients flock to our clinic during and “just before” summer to treat their legs for fun in the sun. Using VenaSeal, we offer our clients a minimally invasive treatment option to help reduce the appearance of varicose veins, leaving their legs summer-ready with no surgery or recovery time!
Get Rid of Varicose Veins Without Surgery
VenaSeal is the latest varicose vein treatment technology that closes the affected veins without extracting or damaging the vein. VenaSeal keeps these veins intact, but blocked off safely from redirected blood flow that should otherwise be routed through the deep veins. In the past, the greater saphenous veins were removed via an invasive surgical procedure called phlebectomy. Removal of these veins remains an option, and many physicians still do this, but in the case of the saphenous veins and it’s branches, it’s best to leave them intact so that they can be harvested for any future coronary bypass should you need them. VenaSeal allows us to do this.
How does VenaSeal do it?
This nonsurgical procedure is fairly quick and can be done directly within our clinic at any Canada Vein Clinics location. If you’re looking to save time and peace of mind, this virtually painless vein treatment will allow you to do just that! To get started, a small nick is made in the skin just below the affected area in the legs—usually made on the inside of the ankle so that the small VenaSeal catheter can be inserted easily into the lumen of the vein. No incisions required!
Through the tiny nick in the skin, the catheter, which is hooked up to a controlled applicator gun, is slipped into the vein as guided by an ultrasound imaging tool, so the physician can see inside the vein via an external monitor. As the VenaSeal catheter is placed, your physician will squeeze the applicator, and a medical adhesive is administered to the interior of the vein. Pressure is applied as the catheter is withdrawn in increments. VenaSeal is often described as “a magical medical glue” that closes off any blood supply to the varicose vein. A small band-aid is then applied to the insertion point, and after a few seconds of pressure, you are ready to go.

Goodbye Varicose Veins, Hello Summer Legs!
Over time, the affected varicose vein will reduce in visibility from the surface of the skin – as if it were never there to start. Although intense activity and heavy lifting are restricted for a few weeks, we encourage walking after the VenaSeal procedure to increase blood circulation throughout the limbs, and prevent any further blood buildup in one particular area. In just a few days’ time you will see a remarkable difference in the appearance of your varicose veins.
So pull out the shorts, skirts, and swimsuits because your solution for summer legs is here at Canada Vein Clinics. Call to schedule your consultation for VenaSeal at 888-876-8346.
