Venous insufficiency happens when the veins in parts of the body no longer function as they should in order to make sure the blood flows properly through the body. Varicose veins will often bulge out from the skin in a way that makes them very noticeable. In addition to the bulging, they are frequently blue. They can itch, burn and cause swelling, especially in the lower legs and around the ankles.

The heat from the laser safely destroys the veins, and the blood flow that was formerly going through those veins is directed to other, healthier vessels. The tissue that is left of the destroyed veins begins to disappear from sight as it is absorbed by the body.
